HISTORY

Both CARBONTRIKE and Bacchetta have a long history of designing and building the world’s best recumbents, being true pioneers mastering carbon fiber for decades. The two companies evolved separate in United States and Sweden until 2017 when they started the Joint Venture BCT (Bacchetta-CARBONTRIKE) together. BCT is now owned by CARBONTRIKE LLC to run and develop the trike business in United States

2025

2024

  • CARBONTRIKE restart selling through dealers making the new updated CT2.0 easy avalable in United States
  • CARBONTRIKE attends at the main trike show in United States – Cycle-Con in Ohio 20-22 September – the new updated CT2.0 is a great sucess – the visitors agrees it is the best race trike at the show and by far the best-looking trike on the market
  • CARBONTRIKE LLC upgrade to a new factory in Pinellas Park, Florida, to build and develop new carbon trikes and service old trikes

2023

  • CARBONTRIKE restart selling CT2.0 but now updated and even better, by start selling directly from the new factory in Florida - To order a trike click on SALES
  • CARBONTRIKE releases the new updated CT2.0 with several new parts and a completely new assembly process to ensure the quality level you’re expecting from CARBONTRIKE – every single CT2.0 is now assembled, adjusted, laser aligned and test ridden by trike specialists at CARBONTRIKE’s new facility in Florida, United States, this is the first true Second Generation CARBONTRIKE with a hologram sticker proving they are Assembled and Laser Aligned in USA

2022

  • CARBONTRIKE develops several new parts and accessories for CT2.0, mainly 3D printed – utilize the latest technology
  • CARBONTRIKE sign a lease for a new premise only a few miles from Bacchetta’s old one in Pinellas Park, Florida, share space with Carbonbike-USA – making the world´s best carbon fiber handcycles and wheel chairs
  • Lars Viebke starts CARBONTRIKE LLC in Florida – replacing BCT (Bacchetta-Carbontrike) and CARBONTRIKES Sweden, CARBONTRIKE LLC owns all rights to Bacchetta´s trike business and are further developing it
  • The pandemic ends and CARBONTRIKES restart moving from Sweden to United States

2021

2020

  • The Corona Pandemic starts - the travel restrictions make it impossible for CARBONTRIKE move to United States or even be part of the trike business in Florida, Bacchetta keep on selling CT2.0 but without trike specialists involved the quality suffer

2019

  • CT2.0 receives the most prestigious trike award in the world – Trike of the Year 2019, by BentRiderOnline
  • CTe – CARBONTRIKE electric – the world’s first carbon fiber trike with electric assist and the lightest electric trike in the world, is launched at Cycle-Con in Nashville but unfortunately this trike model has to be canceled due to the pandemic
  • CT2.0 beats ICE VTX at Heart of Texas Rally (with the same riders riding the same track) proving CT2.0 is the Fastest Trike on the Market
  • CT2.0 is launched on the market – the trike is sold both online and through Bacchetta’s recumbent dealers

2018

  • CT2.0 – the world’s first mass produced carbon fiber race trike is released at CycleCon in Nashville – the trike is immediately a big success – finally making the revolutionary CARBONTRIKE available in large numbers
  • CARBONTRIKES starts moving from Sweden to Florida to develop fiber trikes together with Bacchetta for serial production
  • CARBONTRIKES is the first trike company in the world to 3D print parts

2017

  • BCT starts developing CT2.0 – the Second Generation CARBONTRIKE – the World’s First Carbon Fiber Trike for Full Serial Production
  • Bacchetta Bicycles and CARBONTRIKES Sweden start the Joint Venture BCT (Bacchetta-CARBONTRIKE) to develop the CARBONTRIKE for mass production and to move the trike business from Sweden to United States

2016

  • CARBONTRIKES is officially the Fastest Trike in the World when Pekka Heimonen beat the 1-Hour World Speed Record
  • Kurt Searvogel beat the miles-bikes-in-a-year world record with Bacchetta Carbon Aero 2.0 riding 76,066 miles
  • CARBONTRIKES develops the second larger autoclace to fully utilize this highly advanced process for producing aerospace grade carbon fiber parts

2015

  • Bacchetta Carbon Basso is voted Recumbent Bike of the Year 2015

2014

  • CARBONTRIKES releases the new trike model – Race Aero – the Fastest Trike on the Market
  • CARBONTRIKES develops the first autoclave and is the first recumbent maker in the world using this highly advanced process for both prototyping and production of carbon fiber parts using elevated temperature and high pressure to achieve maximum quality

2013

  • CARBONTRIKES Race SL – the Lightest Trike on the Market is released at SPEZI in Germany, the world’s largest recumbent show, the trike is a big sucess and the demand is much higher than the production rate in Sweden

2012

  • CARBONTRIKES releases the first trike model – CARBONTRIKES Race – the First Carbon Fiber Trike on the Market
  • CARBONTRIKES attends for the first time at an international recumbent show - SPEZI in Germany to introduce the CARBONTRIKE concept to the world

2010

  • CARBONTRIKES starts to develop the world´s first carbon fiber trike including the process and equipment needed to produce it
  • CARBONTRIKES moves into the first premise in Stockholm
  • Bacchetta releases the first carbon fiber recumbent bicycle for serial production – Bacchetta Carbon Aero 2.0

  • Lars Viebke starts CARBONTRIKES Sweden to design, produce and sell carbon fiber trikes
  • John Schlitter becomes the First Person to Complete RAAM (Race Across America) Solo in the category Recumbents using a Bacchetta Aero

2007

  • Lars Viebke design and built the first fully functional carbon fiber trike prototype as a Master of Science thesis

2005

  • Team ALS-Bacchetta wins RAAM (Race Across America) – the Hardest Bike Race in the World

2004

  • Lars Viebke design the first carbon fiber trike but just as 3D CAD model

2002

  • Bacchetta Bicycles moves into the first premise in St Petersburg, Florida
  • Bacchetta releases the first Recumbent Bicycle – Bacchetta becomes one of the Largest Recumbent Makers in the World as they are able to ramp up the production in Taiwan to meet the high demand
  • Bacchetta releases the First Titanium Recumbent Bicycle on the Market – Bacchetta TI Aero

2001

  • Mark Swanson and Mark Colliton starts Bacchetta Bicycles Inc in Florida, United States, to develop, produce and sell recumbent bikes

1999

  • Lars Viebke (founder of CARBONTRIKE) design and built his first carbon fiber recumbent – a unique full suspension super aerodynamic touring bike he uses for fully geared fast touring all arround Europe

1996

  • Lars Viebke (founder of CARBONTRIKE) design and built first recumbent – a full suspension touring bike in stainless steel and use this recumbent for touring all arround Europe.
